The difference is that I would have to move the cursor one line down, 
then press the Shift key, and then continue to move the cursor down to 
select the lines I want to delete. This would break my work flow.

Sorry, but you should help those people to get some email expertise. 
Teach them the, IMO, superior way to reply to a message.
I really hate all those messages send by Windows users with a few lines 
of text followed by a full quote. Is being a Windows user an excuse for 
not following the Netiquette which tells us to only quote the necessary 
parts of a message?

Do you have some examples? Or are you only repeating the FUD spread by 
certain people about us? If you think that this is such a big usability 
issue then you should probably try to find some support on the 
kde-usability list.

We are probably not better. But we are definitely different. And so is 
KMail. That's probably the reason why so many people like KMail the way 
it is. It's the little differences you can't really lie your fingers on 
when you are asked why you like KMail so much. But then when someone 
tells you something should be changed you suddenly realise that the 
thing this guy wants you to change is exactly one of those things which 
makes KMail (in your opinion) better than those other email clients.

I should probably simply ignore all new wishes (like those 300+ wishes 
which are already in the bug report system) instead of closing wishes 
which I don't think are reasonable.

The fact that I don't do this tells you that I read all wishes and 
decide whether they are worth staying in the bug report system until I 
or someone else fulfills them or whether they are not worth it (and 
then I close them).

BTW, just to make this clear. I don't ignore the 300+ wishes we already 
have because I think they are all stupid (most of them are pretty nice 
wishes) but because I work on KMail in my very limited spare time (for 
free and for the fun of it) and therefore simply don't have the time to 
implement many feature wishes.
