Then this bug is most likely not related to OpenPGP signing. Could you 
please try if KMail also goes crazy when you don't sign the message?

Hmm, strange. The KDE Crash Handler should show up after you killed 
KMail. Does it show up when you kill KMail with 'killall -11 kmail'?

BTW, if possible you should update to KDE 3.0.2 (which is available at 
www.suse.com) because a lot of bugs where fixed since KDE 3.0.0 was 
released.
