In order to enable the signature for an identity you have to check an 
option called "Enable signature". This was different in KDE 2.x. 
Therefore there the global "Automatically append signature" option did 
make some sense. But now that the user has to explicitely enable the 
signature for an identity the global option is only confusing.

For the "old KMailers" we should have a section "Important changes" on 
the "Welcome to KMail" page which lists, well, important changes since 
the last KMail version.
