The attachment listing in the composer is a dumb list of attachments that is 
incapable of properly displaying the MIME hierarchy of a mail. That's because 
KMail cannot handle anything that's more complex than a multipart/mixed as 
top-level mimetype. For everything else, there exist workarounds to collapse 
the MIME hierarchy into a flat "list of attachments".

So modelling the mimetree viewer after the attachment list is making the 
feature a bug.
