But if he does this then the confirmation dialog will again be shown 
several times. Or do you suggest that he only turns this on after 
coming back to his computer? Maybe it should be possible to only show 
the confirmation dialog if the user checked manually for new mail.
Furthermore the status bar should indicate that some messages were left 
on the server.
