I did send him a link to the Mandrake binary of KDE 3 beta 1 on the ftp server
shortly after it came out and I assume he knows how to download rpms from a
ftp server.

Ok, he requested, that the developer creates the rpms and not Mandrake, sorry,
but I'm not using Mandrake so this is everything I can easily do and the
result is the same.

Or should I have sent hime the files via e-mail to fill his mailbox?

They are also in KDE 3 beta 1 for which Mandrake provided rpms.

I assume, KMail also needs some KDE services, so just KMail is not enough.
There are at least some kio slaves required (imap, pop3, smtp, file), maybe
the dcop server and some other things. This becomes quite huge then, if
everything is linked statically against the same libraries.
