There's a problem with this - a non-white background may be
important, especially if the text colour is itself white.

Mostly this is important in tables, but there are times when
printing the background colour is important. This should be
configurable, probably defaulting to printing white, since
that is what is wanted most of the time.

Of course, this only applies to rendering of HTML, not plain
text.
