Subject: Bug#33891: kmail should use rfc3156 'MIME Security with OpenPGP'
From: dfries () mail ! win ! org
Date: 2001-10-19 2:42:48
[Download RAW message or body]
Package: kmail
Version: 1.3.2 (using KDE 2.2.1 )
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Debian Package 4:2.2.1-7 (testing/unstable)
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.4 20010902 (Debian prerelease)
OS: Linux (i586) release 2.4.8
OS/Compiler notes:
As of 1.3.2 pgp signed/encrypted messages sent between mutt and kmail are not \
recognized by the other mail client. The rfc3156 way allows detached signatures \
which do not interfere with the readability of the message when viewed by \
nonconforming email clients, they simply see an extra attachment. It also allows for \
encrypting/signing attachments.
It is also easier to detect if the message is signed/encrypted because the mime type \
says so. There isn't any need to parse the message to figure this out.
