Sorry, but this cannot be true. If it would be true, then you cannot create
binaries for a platform where libc is proprietary: Solarix, Aix, HPUX, etc.

Yes.

IMO we could either put the plugin on the kmail site, and/or ask IBM
if they allow to use and/or distribute the Lotus API libs with Kde.
Given IBMs latest commitment to open source there is a fair chance
that they agree.

Unfortunately I do not have any contact within IBM to ask for it.
