Hi friends,

my name's Mauro de Pascale, I'm a C++ software developer and a KDE user (a Happy
kde user!!).
Because in my company the official Mail system is based on Domino/Notes, I'm
trying to add the Domino support to the KMail project, so I can read/send mails
from my preferred environment without having to switch to the windows one
(directly or using wine).
I'm doing it in my spare time: I started this activity on Kde 1.2 working only
few hours per month and now that things start to work, I'm increasing the time
spent on the project to try to add functionalities.
At the moment I've KDE 2.2 with a modified kmail able to send/receive mail
directly accessing the main DOMINO server.
I've modified the setup dialog to be able to configure a DOMINO mailbox and to
use DOMINO as mailer agent.
I've created then a kmacctnotes.[h,cpp] object to retrieve mails from domino,
and I've modified kmsender.[cpp,h] to add support for sending mail through
DOMINO.
Just for fun I've also a modified kbiff application to notify me when I've new
mail on the Domino server.

What is missing up to now:

Explicit security management
at the moment the modified kmail accesses Domino using an hardcoded
password,
I need to add code to ask the user for the password and to keep it safely.
Some code needs to be added to deal with password expiration and manage
     accounting on also.

Text style decoding
using notes is possible to have mail with different text styles in it.
Theoretically is possible to replicate that styles (or part of them) in
kmail using html, at the moment I only have some preliminary code but
     nothing in the main code.

Attachment handling
I need to add attachment management, at the moment I don't add the time for
     working on it.

Address lookup
Using Domino it would be possible to lookup for addresses into the main
Directory service using native Domino's API or X.400. I'm very interested
in it but I never add the time to put something working.

Now, my question: can be there any interest in adding this work to the main
source tree? I need some help with attachs, because I know little about the
RFCs and the main application structure, but obviously I don't want to bother
people with questions if nobody will use it except me.

Please let's me know what do you think about .
I'll be happy to give more technical details and informations about how to setup
the system to anyone interested.
