While it's good to be safe, if you are only using 30mw or even 100mw
cards, you really have very little to worry about.  That being said,
having a 24dbi parabolic pointed at your body over long time periods will
heat you up.  There have been inconclusive studies on the effects of
RF; cancer, etc.   I would still not put an antenna on my head, but I
wouldn't worry about being around omnis or other such small gain antennas.
