Subject: Bug#24990: nfs, permission, konqueror
From: bjoern () cs ! tu-berlin ! de
Date: 2001-04-30 13:05:14
[Download RAW message or body]
Package: konqueror
Version: KDE 2.1.1
Severity: normal
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: gcc 2.95.2
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Kernel 2.4.4
Konqueror doesn't show an error message,
if "root" tries to change permissions on a
NFS mounted directory and this fails. The
user "root" cannot change permissions, if the
NFS server has set the option
"root_squash" (default) for an exported share.
Because it's probably not visible for the NFS
client, if the server has set the "root_squash"
option (see man 5 exports) I suggest, that
Konqueror should show an error, if the
permissions cannot be changed.
