I have tried this bug on RedHat 5.2 with kde versions 1.1 and 1.1.1.
I have tried it for RedHat 6.0 with kde 1.1.1, and Mandrake 6.0 with kde
versions 1.1.1 and 1.1.2.

The bug is present in all of the above versions and distributions.
I also check both the KFM bug report logs and the Overall KDE bug report
logs and found no previous mention of this bug.

Using the KFM go to the /dev directory and right click on any device file.
Try to view the permissions, and KDE crashes.

I suspect that KFM does not know how to handle the additional attributes of a
special file, and does not properly extract only the permission information for
display.

I simply go around the problem by using ls -l in a console box to find/change
the permissions for special files.

I suspect that some novice users will not find it so easy to get around the bug
so it would be nice to have it fixed someday.

Thanks Again for working so hard and creating such a wonderful
desktop environment. The thing I admire most about KDE is the logical
intuitive and clean design. Things seem to be almost effortless.
Gnome on the other hand is always popping up a rediculus number of
windows that you have to close and it is a lot of work to get anything done.
