In one word : separating data from graphical representation (rendering)
with a tree for each, both tree being of course of the same structure.

This is excellent design.

BTW, it's exactly what the icon/tree view do !
KDirLister holds the KFileItems -> that's the data
KonqIconView holds the KFileIVIs -> that's the graphical representation
and each KFileIVIs has a pointer to the KFileItem.

(Ah, this last bit is the other way round in the HTML/CSS stuff, but it's
a one-to-one relation anyway).

So here again, we have two structures in parallel (ok, list for the icon view,
tree for the tree view [well not in KDirLister...]) where each element
of one points to a corresponding element in the other.
