Ah, interesting. But why don't you use the JS properties that are supposed 
to return the actual width? I think offsetwidth is what you're looking for, 
we implemented it in that way. 

Not sure if the other browsers would support that this way though. 

however, by definition style.* returns the specified values, not the actual 
ones.
