I can not reproduce this bug using KDevelop 3.2.2, KDevelop 3.3beta and KDevelop 3.4. \
The code looks correct because the check for an invalid item is present.

Please, download 3.3beta source code and compile with debug information (./configure \
--enable-debug=full). This way we will know the line that caused the crash.
