I started exchanging e-mails with another submitter on bugs.kde.org. His
bug also related to KMail and Gmail. He had me go into KMail settings
and the account settings and set the namespace for "personal" to "inbox"
for my GMail setup. That fixed it. Performance is a little bit slow now,
but entirely acceptable.
