I am using Kontact/KMail with KDE 3.5.3 for school, and I have recently had
a very strange problem crop up with the server. The server is a Microsoft
Exchange server, with IMAP being my only available option. Now, in the
past it has worked just fine, and the weird behavior started this weekend.
Now, messages appear to be corrupted in my mailbox, or duplicated,
triplicated, or more, and this is just weird.

At first, I thought it had to be something that the school did, because they
had a maintenance window this weekend for all of the online learning
services stuff, including the mailserver. Maybe the mailserver database
was corrupt or something due to an upgrade, or something like that,
however, technical support (who kindly spent an hour on the phone with me
while we sent e-mails back and forth just to try to isolate the cause of
the problem) says that isn't a possibility. From the phone call, I
gathered that I should not make the assumption that KMail is perfect with
regard to this, so I started considering that and used ethereal to capture
data from a session with the IMAP server. I have a ~21KiB file that I went
through and annotated while reading the IMAP4rev1 spec, and now I am
completely confused, in addition to my brain now being mush from all of
this stuff. :-) Either:

	(A) I am not understanding the IMAP4rev1 spec correctly,
	(B) Microsoft's server has a weird bug in it that just now came
out of the woodwork or was a result of the upgrade, or
	(C) I am just a clueless idiot. :-)

In any case, because I do not really yet know where the bug lies, is there
anybody that would be willing to help me try to figure out what the problem
is? Is there anyone on this list that knows IMAP well enough to be able to
help me grok this logfile that I've spent the past several hours annotating
to understand?

Any help would be _wonderfully_ appreciated! I have not posted the log to
this list because I am not sure if it is appropriate. It is 21,037 bytes,
and compresses down to 5,650 with gzip. If it should be attached here, let
me know. I also have the output of the unencrypted TCP stream from
ethereal in human readable, non-annotated output, and the raw TCP packet
stream as saved by ethereal; total I have a little over 73 KiB of
uncompressed data on this problem.

	Thanks,
	Mike Trausch
