Find a sent message in the sent-mail folder with a + next to it.  Click the +. 
Does it have the message you just sent under it?  In other words, if you have 
two messages in there with the same subject line, for example "Re: 
[kdepim-users] sent mail not saved in sent-mail" it's going to thread it.  As 
Ingo suggested, turn off threading in sent-mail and see if those messages 
reappear.
