i think this is not a problem of the nvdia drivers, because i have noticed
similar behaviour on my machine, and i have a matrox millenium II agp with 8
MB ram.
right now:
3291 root 16 0 57688 39M 7616 R 6.7 31.9 80:44 X
and that does not seem to increase, as long as i do not work with many windows
however i noticed X consuming up to 150 MB when i had been working for some
hours with many windows/programs, occasionally crashing (probably due to a
lack of memory, i'll watch that)
my machine:
128MB ram, 120MB swap, matrox millenium II agp with 8 MB ram, kernel 2.4.0, X
4.02, 12 Desktops 1152x864, kde 2.1.1, every 20 minutes a new jpg
as X size does not iincrease when not working on this machine, i do not
believe it's due to background images.
