XMMS was fine before the upgrade however thereafter I couldn't play my MP3's
correctly it would only play for a few minutes then stop the start over
again. Even after I re installing to XMMS-1.2.2 I am still experiencing the
problem.

Which dependencies am I suppose to check?

I dont understand. You say 1.2.2 was OK before? and now you upgraded
and then backgraded and now 1.2.2 has the same prob as 1.2.4? That
would suggest a problem with one of the associated dependency
libraries. If you mean it was always like this and that is the reason
you tried to upgrade, then I would look at your sound cards IRQ and
DMA. It is only with files the size of mp3 that problems in these areas
might necessarily show. There are other mp3 players that are vanilla X
look at one of the big dl sites. Be careful of gnome apps, some load
independently but others drag half the gnome system with them.

Yes, unless you have a dual setup development system with scripts to
change the paths and vars. If you could get a precompiled rpm you could
use just the qt1x libs and the kde1-compat package. There is otherwise
nothing you can do to compile kde1 apps (apart from modify them very
heavily for kde2 :-) )
What is wrong with Noatun? it comes with a couple of shell manager
plugins with various shells. I know its a bit slow but it only gets
real slow if you have more than one shell interface enabled at the same
time (which is a bit silly)

If you have RH 7.0 I woild only put it upto date and get a complete 7.1
or later CD at another time. If RH has an update manager I think you
can safely trust it to only update what is appropriate, but dont make
those decisions yourself, either the update manager or a whole CD.
The virtual machine space is only what it is allowing to emulate a PC
and run windows in. It is not including its linux overhead which could
be quite large.
