It could be this:

Most Linux-systems (using ghostscript for printing) can only print 
postscript fonts. Applications like StarOffice only display this type of 
font, but however, KWord displays every font that is offered by X, 
including TTF and similar fonttypes. But since they can't be printed, 
they are mostly replaced with a generic postscript font.
