They need to be "Findable"
Four ways: 1. Add to the PATH.
2. Add to './configure' with-kdedir=/wherever/it/is.
3. Add to ld.so.conf and run ldconfig.
4. LD-LIBRARY-PATH=/wherever/it/is;LD-LIBRARY-PATH
The last one, I'm NOT sure of exacty
I use 2 and 3, mostly.
