the lines break as you specify them to break in file > settings > 
composer. the word wrap a.) imparts this behavior to quotes and b.) 
imparts it to messages received from mailers that make everything one 
long line until there's a hard return, so that they can now be read 
without having to scroll into the neighbor's front yard.
