I have been wrestling with this problem for a while now and don't seem to be
able to find a solution:

I am using a NIS and NFS server to authenticate users and map their home
directories to a remote client. Login and Mapping works fine, all the user id's
are right. I can write and red from the mapped home directories.

If I try however to use e.g. the KDE Thememanager to change a theme of a user
on one of the clients, I get the following error message:

"Failed to unpack /usr/share/apps/kthememgr/Themes/Arctic.tar.gz with cd
"/home/user1/.kde/share/apps/kthememgr/Work/"; gzip -c -d
"/usr/share/apps/kthememgr/Themes/Arctic.tar.gz | tar xf"

The strange thing is though, that some of the themes can be installed (e.g.
Wire and Wood that come with the Mandrake distribution) whereas others (e.g.
Arctic) can not be unpacked. I tried to mount with different options (hard,
intr, different rsize and wsize options etc.) but that didn't seem to help. The
problems do not appear on the server itself.

Thanks
Jochen Weiss
