Many systens has kde in other places... like /opt/kde.
You must figure out whrere yours is by the enviroment variables...

You libs are old and the suggestion is install new ones, it is easy
  and preaty fast to do that.

Other progs like ImageMagic or Gimp will not work with your old ones!
