Normally, if you get an internal compiler error it'll say "cc1(plus):
internal compiler error" and also give a sig11 or a sig6. But not always,
although if you're compiling kernels with the standard compiler (and
not C++ code) this is pretty common, and is usually a sign of hardware
difficulties (hence the sig11 FAQ) -- especially if the error happens in
different places in the code.

That said, I have noted one experience recently when I got an internal
compiler error compiling kde code. I've been using egcs for sometime
(currently use 1.1.2) and although I forget exactly what module I was
compiling, I'm pretty sure it was C++ (most kde code is C++, but kde-
support is mostly plain C) and I think that the syntax problems at
that particular time confused the compiler sufficiently in order to
generate such an internal compiler error.

I've been running 2.2.0 since mid-February here. I haven't gotten Redhat 6.0
yet -- what compiler does it use? I assume it's egcs, but I don't know what
version, presumably 1.1.1 (hint: do a gcc -v).

In your previous message you mention that it ran OK on the Dell machine, and
did I infer correctly that you ran 2.2.5/Redhat 6.0 on this machine as well
and the compile worked? If so, there might be an issue with the AMD.
