Hello...

I believe the kde.tgz is the binary package for Slackware. i used it with
the menu called up by executing 'setup' at the command prompt. Red hat users
will probably have their usual rpms....
I installed in the reverse order, and after a few try, things will work
out. I remembered the most problems aries from the following....
1) Qt version that is not 1.42 or above ( I got that problem)
2) failure to check the inputs to /etc/ld.so.conf like -->
          /opt/kde/lib
         /usr/local/qt/lib
3) failed to remove the ld.so.cache and run "ldconfig" ...

If I missed out something, please feel free to add in...
I had problems at first, but was rather touched by the help I got in solving
it... Just hope the these information can serve some lead. Personally I did
not regret the installation of the binary package, things are working fine..
the forum at Slackware site at http://www.slackware.com can be of some help
too...

Cheers
Jin Siew
