Subject:    KDM_ON & KDM_OFF not working

Hello
  I have installed KDE and it runs well.  I try to *KDM_OFF* and it 
tells me that all is being ut back the way it is.  However KDE still 
fires up.  I removed the .Xclient file and then the fvwm fires up. 
however when I put .Xclients back no windows manager fires up I get an 
error message that .Xclietns permission denied.  I am logging in as root 
running KDE 1.1 on Redhat 5.2

Any Ideas
