The location you selected for export is fine.
Make sure you set it as /opt/kde and not opt/kde (I did that one). Make sure
QTDIR is set right. Make sure the path is set right (/opt/kde/bin) in the path
statement in /etc/profile.
There's a starting place. More information would be helpful. Could be related to
an X problem instead of KDE.
