I was thinking, could the problems you are having running KDE be caused
by the faulty libraries in RH5.1.  There was many problems with the
first batch of RH5.1 release and RedHat has already a list long as hell
with fixes. I thnk you should try to upgrade these files, it might solve
your problems.
