I don't get that point - many KDE apps do provide full-screen
functionality like okular, gwenview and dragonplayer. On netbooks,
having a global fullscreen shortcut helps a lot as it saves quite a
bit of space.

It seems the questions being discussed in this thread are:

1 what should be the default shortcut, ctrl-shift-F or F11
(ctrl-shift-F is currently often default so known to KDE users, F11
is used in Firefox and IE among others and 'easier')
2 should the shortcut be implemented on the application level (leaving
out many apps) or global (KWin)
 (global works always and KWin should handle windows including this;
but some apps have other uses for this key)
3 if for two is decided to have F11 or ctrl-shift-F as global shortcut
should there be a difference between those and the 'native' fullscreen
mode?
(if the KWin function enables the native fullscreen interfaces there
is no way to use the 'normal' interface with more screen estate)

My current setup is to use F11 to let KWin set any window fullscreen,
and all KDE apps (and most non-KDE apps like firefox) detect that use
their default full-screen interface. I'm not usability expert but it
seems consistent and logical to me.
