This is cool. It should be quite noticable. However:

1. Splashscreen should probably be displayed by app launcher, not by  
app itself as is often case now,
since that usually takes far too long and is wrong place to do it  
anyway. Splashscreen can be included as
bitmap in application bundle (like icon). Fancy appearing effect could  
probably be used without beeing annoying.

2. It is essential that it is possible to dismiss splashscreen  
(probably by clicking on it).
