It seems to me that instant apply works well when you are 'formatting'
something, wathever it is, a piece of text, windows decoration,
screensaver, background image, color scheme, etc. Maybe, we should push it
for all KDE4 applications as it seems fashionable now (cf. MSOffice 12)

Here ideally, I would follow the MsOffice12 way, which I think is a
perfectly adapted concept for Kivio.

1) Select in a diagram a portion of it
2) A miniature od that portion with some surroundings appears in a drop
down dialog controlling the size
3) choosing the dialog shows 5 options up and down for changing the size
of the chosen part with visual clues. The size up and down options try to
be smart.
4) going up and down is instant apply, the user knows that going back to
the middle option goes back to the initial situation
5) An poweruser option is hidden to modify very precisely with a classical
interface the size.

In a nutshell, my opinion is that Microsoft seems to have put a lot of
thought in Instant Apply and that cloning them is maybe a smart move.

Cheers,
Charles
