no, because:

a) this would make a common task even more difficult / longer to accomplish
b) it would make the add applets dialog more complex than it already is
c) 3.5 is already frozen for these kinds of commits in any case

simplifying one thing a wee that isn't overly complex at the cost of making 
something else more complex is just shuffling the problem and, in this case, 
i think it would be a net loss.
