it's not even bloat, it's just lack of usability. system:/ launches settings:/ 
rather than kcontrol, for instance =/

i agree completely. settings:/ and applications:/ are pretty gratuitous. 
homes:/, media:/ and system:/ are rather useful, particularly if we use them 
in our software as opposed to expecting the user to type "system:/" directly 
in to konqueror.
