I think most people understand that any program that is able to read mail is 
generally able to write it as well. Personally, I think "Mail Reader" sounds 
most natural of all those suggested. Or we could be like OS X, and just call 
it "Mail" (I know we are talking about descriptions, not names, so pardon the 
joke).
