we discussed this idea on IRC actually. my concern was that some of the export 
target formats have as many as 4 settings that can be changed. this ends up 
adding quite a bit to the already busy file dialog. i also think there's 
value in having a more-or-less static interface for the file dialog between 
apps.

these settings are also about the generated images, not so much about the 
saved file itself (which, for instance, "Save as UTF8" might be). i wonder 
about mixing these two steps together.

one could try it; it would be interesting to see what it actually looks like 
and how natural it feels in usage. if we had a nice "saving options" side 
pane that these custom items were put into that might mitigate it somewhat...

many graphics apps separate the file dialog and the image options into two 
separate steps as well. of course, they tend to have more than 4 options to 
choose from ;)
