i'm really hesitant to introduce "magic" behaviour to GUI elements due to
context. people will not grok why it is inconsistent and and think it's a
bug. inconsistencies result in a lack of trust of the UI ("it's random!").

as for the 0.3s, the timing issue is a hard one. if it's too short, it doesn't
solve anything. if it's too long, people will complain that the Quit action
doesn't work sometimes. and it isn't long enough, people will still
accidently quit the app.

this is why i didn't implement a hack, but instead put in a dialog box. seeing
as exactly 0 external users have mentioned that dialog box during the betas i
don't think it's a problem. the fact that only those who saw the commit claim
it will be an annoyance makes me suspect that it's ok. =) or is anyone aware
of people using the beta, coming across the new dialog and having problems
with it?
