How about making it configurable? Provide combined AND separate buttons, but 
only enabl one in the default konqueror.rc.  Then they user could add or 
remove whichever style of button(s) they wished via the ubiquitous 
Settings->Configure Toolbars. They could even have both at once, if they were 
crazy!
