I'm not really a developer, I just recently discovered KDE CVS, that's all. 
And I agree with you, the up button shouldn't be there for web browsing, 
although it should be possible to add it optionally. 

I think in terms of web browsing, Konqueror needs quite a big overhaul, 
especially with configuring. I think that when you are file browsing with 
Konqueror, when you click on Settings, Configure Konqueror, you should only 
get file browsing options, and when you're web browsing, only web browsing 
options. So Konqueror should have two 'modes' - web browsing, and file 
browsing, and it should behave like a completely different program depending 
what mode it's in. In plain english, if it's being used as a web browser, it 
should be a fully functional web browser, nothing more. And if it's a file 
manager, it should act as a file manager, and nothing more.
