Everything is considered "web browsing" when you're using the web browsing 
profile. It doesn't really matter a bit which protocol is used, as long as it 
clearly supports a path (which http:, ftp:, file: and nearly every other 
protocol does). It would be a great loss if up weren't available for those 
any more (for e. g. html documentation, web cvs, other highly hierarchical 
information).
