Hello. I am new to this list, and would like to talk about something
that's bugging me with the KDE 3.2 beta.

I've been using KDE for about a year now--when I switched to Linux,
KDE was my first choice of desktops and I consider it a good one. KDE
is by far the most usable desktop I've ever used, and I love it. I
started with KDE 3.0.3, and later upgraded to 3.1 with my distro.

Recently, I've been experimenting with VMWare, and decided to install
KDE 3.2 Beta 2 on a virtual machine to try it out.

First, I'd like to mention that for the most part, I like it--however,
there is one new feature that greatly annoys me, and there's no way to
turn it off. It's the flashing of the taskbar whenever a window opens
in the background. No version of KDE I've used in the past had this
feature, and it's highly annoying. I hated it back when I used
Windows, and one of the things I loved about KDE was that I could open
new programs in the background, get to them when I feel like it,
and not having the taskbar flash at me constantly until I switch into
the program.

I've found three ways I can deal with this:

1) I can continue using KDE 3.1--the disadvantage is that I'll not be
able to enjoy KDE 3.2's new features.
2) I can disable focus stealing prevention--this is the worst of all
solutions, as I like to open programs in the background.
3) I can remove the taskbar from 3.2's kicker--this isn't too much of
a problem, as I primarily use alt-tab to navigate between windows, but
I shouldn't have to remove the taskbar.

So I request this--put some kind of option in 3.2's KDE Control
Centre to disable taskbar flashing without disabling focus stealing
prevention. I'm not a programmer, so I can't do this by myself.

Thank you for your time.
