I made a longer comment in a different mail, but no matter how things will 
end up, then i think it is out of the question to make this big a change 
this close to release.

I also think (as expressed elsewhere) that kcontrol should be tweaked to use 
the settings ioslave, and offer both an icon view and a tree view, instead 
of having two wildly different solutions. (and i also do think that 
konqueror is unsuited for the job as it have a gazillion options and menus 
that are of absolutely no help in  navigating the settings.
