yes, this is just a first installment in a series.
yes, i will be editting it for spelling and grammar later (though you can do 
that for me if you want ;)
yes, i will be looking to post this somewhere more accessable, e.g. developer.
kde.org and theDot...

p.s. after working on this, i've remembered just how much i truly, truly hate 
writing documentation, HOWTOs, tutorials and their ilk. give me a nasty bug 
and gdb any day. ;-)
