this is a development list. we sort of have to keep the technical perspective
in mind so we can actually write the software that implements our solutions.

that can be done using a native interface just fine. i don't think it is an
optimal interface, however (not by far) ... take a look at the Mac OS X
system config panels for a far simpler and more straight-forward concept ...
an attractive and instructive sidebar (that can be easily hidden) is a good
thing, easy navigation is an important factor as well...

we already have this, but it is hidden on the Help tab of kcontrol. it is
hidden because we have a big tree to show. the tree should probably be
replaced by a different system for moving from panel to panel.
