For those who would like to work something out but have no idea what to
do ;)

I just experienced there is need for this:

When about to handle images for exchange (between people) there should
be some help for the masses that have no idea of the technologies
behind. (e.g. difference between jpg- and png-formats).

Like a wizard that guides through the export to a file. Asks for the
need to keep the data original, asks for the need of small file size,
asks for the need to add informations/comments, asks for the need to
keep transparency...

Or offer some common needs:
- save image for printing (-> high resolution)
- save image for screen display, like in presentation (-> low
resolution, ...)
- save image for email to grandma (-> high resolution, compressed, ...)
- ...

The export dialog could offer the possibility to filter all supported
formats by the needs. Or show a list with the supported features...

Free choice but support which format suits best.

Perhaps this could be extended for other apps with multiple file formats
as well...

Won't work on this myself, just spread the idea and hope for others
(until one day I... umh, forget about that ;)

Friedrich
