sure, we can do whatever we want with the colours. we would need to stick 
within the colour scheme picked by the user, but there is no reason we can't 
provide variations of colours.

as for the "more solid look" that's an issue w/KPopupMenu's title item. i 
suppose we could provide a completely custom element for TOM that suits its 
particular needs rather than use KPopupMenu's built in facilities. 

for now, though, i have much more interesting things to work on rather than 
colours. like KDEDIR merging =)

would you be interested on hacking around with the colour / title stuff? if 
so, i'll try to remember to remind you when i put it in CVS =)
