It would be fine with me if one could right-click, bring up the context
menu, and then basically *ignore* the context menu. E.g., I would
right-click. The menu would pop up. I would then hit delete, and the file
would go to the trash. As it is now, keys like delete and F2 don't do
anything if the menu is popped up; on the other hand, if I hit escape, the
menu goes away, and after that I can hit F2 or delete or whatever.

Another thing that would be nice: Currently, if the user clicks outside of
the menu after it pops up, the menu goes away, but the icon becomes
unselected. It would be great if it were to *stay* selected.

I've played around with auto-selecting icons in the past, but it's never met
my expectations. As it's currently implemented, the user hovers over an icon
for a user-definable length of time to cause the icon to be selected. If the
user then hovers over a different icon, it is selected, and if control or
shift was not being held down, the old selected icon is unselected. Here's
my idea (it may be a little too different, but I'm just throwing it out):
The user hovers on an icon to select it. The user can then move on to a
different icon and do the same thing. However, in *my* ideal way, the old
one would stay selected. The user could just go about selecting icons like
that. Control could be used to toggle selection on individual icons.
Clicking in an empty area would unselect all icons. Shift could be used to
select a range of icons.
