Some thoughts:

The idea is that you don't have to enter your e-mail settings over and over 
again. Based on that idea, shouldn't the global mail setting be updated 
whenever you enter it in kscd?

But what if you want to use another setting than the default one / don't want 
to change the default?

Apart from that I like your changes.
